World Water Day 22nd March

Calling all water-bearers in full national costume, including ethnic musicians, dancers, street performers and African drummers!

In honour of the United Nations World Water Day on 22nd March, The Water for Life Campaign – a national water awareness initiative – is launching the first ever UN World Water Day event in Ireland. The campaign includes sustainable development workers, water conservation advocates and students.

This event will highlight global water issues and the situation here in Ireland in relation to water conservation and management.

A lunchtime procession in Dublin, including a gospel choir, African drummers and pupils from Green Schools, will take place at 12 noon from the Dail, up Grafton Street to Stephen’s Green on 22nd March.

In addition, a fundraising celebration evening concert will be held at The Turk’s Head, Temple Bar, Dublin with live music, raffle and the best of World Music from DJ Abby. Proceeds will go to Concern’s water projects in Africa.
