Many Church of Ireland places of worship are an attractive part of the overall landscape. Many are seen as architecturally important and many are enhanced by the mature sylvan settings in which they nestle. From attending a number of Diocesan Council meetings, these sylvan settings only ever become agenda items when a request is made to fell one or more of these venerable trees. Perhaps felling is the only option for trees which are diseased or unstable due to a particularly severe storm. Then again, perhaps there are other options, such as judicious pruning, or planting more appropriate native species in better locations?
Perhaps if tree experts were to tell us about the best ways to manage the heritage of trees in our care, we could make the best possible decisions, with an eye to the future as well as the present? To improve our tree stewardship, please attend the seminar advertised below:
