Seven churches in Dundalk and the surrounding area will be ringing bells at 2pm on the 6th and including prayers re climate change in all services on the 7th.
Ninety St Louis Sisters in chapter at Emmaus, near Swords, are ringing bells on the 6th and including prayers and a creation hymn in their 5pm service.
Environmental activists from Eco Congregation Ireland, Christian Aid and Trocaire plan to set up a stall in Cork city on the afternoon of 6th December where they will ring bells, hand out fliers and ask people to sign Trocaire Climate Change cards. Leaflets will be distributed in Midleton in the morning.
Members of Rathfarnham Parish, Dublin, will hand out fliers re climate change at lunchtime on the 6th before the parish bells are rung at 2pm. A half-hour prayer vigil will be held from 2.15pm. The sermon, hymns and prayers on the 7th will focus on the environment.
A member of the Three Rock Churches’ Environment Group plans to dress up as a town crier and ring a handbell outside Balally Luas Station on the 6th while other members of the inter-denominational group hand out fliers re climate change.
The bells of the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, Balally, Dublin, will ring at 2pm on 6th December and prayers for the environment will be included in services on the 7th. Also, a member of the congregation will parade in with a globe at the start of the service.
Quaker meeting houses do not have bells to ring. However, the children of Churchtown Quaker Meeting plan to find/make handbells, tambourines, castanets, maracas, tin cans with beans or pebbles in them in order to ‘Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord’ for two minutes after meeting for worship on the 7th. Rathfarnham Junior Meeting will make posters re climate change to raise awareness.
Ballinmallard Methodist Church in Fermanagh is hosting an 18-hour prayer vigil. Can anyone beat that?!
