Sustainable Living & Spirituality ~ Mary Kate Hagan RSM

‘Sustainable Living and Spirituality’ was the title of the second workshop led by Mary Kate Hagan RSM at Eco-Congregation Ireland’s inaugural conference.

During the workshop participants explored sustainability in the context of the evolving Story of the Universe with the growing awareness of the urgent need for a new consciousness and a nurturing spirituality. They also looked at both the inner and the outer journey: the need for Inner spiritual sustainability, honouring the fact that when we listen with our hearts the planet is transformed.

With Jesus’ challenge to read the signs of the times (Mt 16 :3), they built up a picture of how the whole, planet and people, can move forward together in the search for a new planetary vision…a vision of a more systemic, interconnected, spiritual and sustainable way into the future. It was within this wider context that aspects of sustainable living were explored, seeing how the planetary crisis can be an evolutionary driver.
