The UK Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA) was laid before Parliament on 25 January 2012.
The first UK CCRA presents the latest evidence on the risks and opportunities of climate change for the UK to 2100. Its findings, particularly related to those risks that require early action, will inform the development of adaptation plans by the UK and Northern Ireland governments. The findings are primarily based upon the latest UK Climate Projections, which were published in 2009.
Following consultation with stakeholders a Northern Ireland CCRA Report on the most important impacts and consequences of climate change has also been produced. The Northern Ireland CCRA in particular will play a key part in helping develop a Northern Ireland Adaptation Programme, which will identify priorities for action and appropriate adaptation measures that will be required to minimise risks to Northern Ireland’s economy, environment and society.
