On the eve of the Conservative party conference, Christian Aid, Cafod and Tearfund will lead an inspiring day of campaigning and worship in Manchester on the issues of climate change and global poverty.
Participants will hear from inspirational speakers and discuss important global issues during an afternoon of workshops and talks, before listening to overseas partners at a special ecumenical service in Manchester Cathedral.
There South African theologian, Tinyiko Maluleke, will preach on how the global church and Christians can lead action on climate change.
A procession will then take place to the conference venue and where a vigil will be held to pray for the government not to forget the world’s poor.
Be a climate witness
The world’s poorest and most vulnerable people are already suffering the impacts of climate change. We know that they are being hit first and hardest, despite doing the least to cause the problem.
Along with our global neighbours, we are witnesses of this injustice.
Bearing Witness is your chance to be part of the church’s response by acting and praying for strong and fair action to tackle climate change and global poverty and protect those most vulnerable.
