National Ethical Investment Week ~ October 16 – 22

National Ethical Investment Week (NEIW) 2011 – a campaign to ensure that everyone knows that they have green and ethical options when it comes to their finance and investment decisions – will take place from 16-22 October.

The annual event brings together advisers, charities and trusts, financial organisations, faith groups, NGOS and community groups to spread the word about green and ethical investing.

NEIW 2010 generated a huge level of interest among financial advisers, consumers and faith groups right across the country. Almost 100 organisations signed up as supporters of the Week, up from 64 in 2009, and over 35 events and activities took place in and around the Week.

Green and ethical investing aims to allow you to make money and make a difference.

Penny Shepherd MBE, UKSIF Chief Executive, said:
“NEIW 2010 was a great success in raising awareness of green and ethical investment options. Our research showed that more than half (54%)* of adults with investments are interested in using their investments to both make money and make a difference. Now is the right time to be raising awareness of the choices people have with their money. As we enter a decade of financial responsibility there is an increasing realisation about the impact we make through our financial choices.”

“As an example of how finance makes a difference, Triodos Bank – through its associated company Triodos Renewables – is making a share issue, the capital from which will be used to finance appropriate renewable energy projects,” says Belfast-based Tony Weekes.
