Eco-Congregation Ireland chairperson, Catherine Brennan SSL, believes we are being called to “a new Exodus” in this Passover/Easter season.
“As we enjoy the new growth, colour and bird-song of our beautiful Spring in this part of the world, far away in the regions of the Middle East, rippling under the deserts and settlements of Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, fault-lines have begun erupting, awakening fresh new possibilities for an expansion of ancient human longings,” she says.
“Author Paul Hawkins, in Blessed Unrest, suggests that we may be living through a period of great spiritual awakening. Could it be that this awakening is also against that which tyrannises Earth by our collective and excessive dependency on the fossil fuels buried beneath these same sands and cultures? Hawkins suggests that such uprisings of grassroots activism may be Earth’s immune system becoming conscious. We can also see it as the Holy Spirit at work.
“My own suggestion in this Passover /Easter season is that we are being called to a new Exodus – to journey into a new future as one sacred community with the whole of Creation. Where is the leadership to call us forth at this time?”
