This Lent, will you pray with Ripple Effect for the climate crisis?

We know that prayer can make a difference, so this Lent will you join Ripple Effect to pray for families in rural Africa living on the frontline of the climate crisis?
Last year, the six countries where Ripple Effect works experienced erratic weather events as a result of the climate crisis. Heavy rainfall caused flash floods and landslides which led to families being displaced and entire farms being swept away. While most of the countries have been affected by heavy rainfall, Ethiopia and Zambia also faced drought. In Zambia’s case, the drought has continued for months.
Download everything you need to set up a prayer station in your church or host a Lent lunch. You’ll find a prayer, a story from a farmer in Kenya and information about sustainable farming techniques. There’s also a video of Meshark Sikiku, Ripple Effect’s sustainability manager, speaking about the challenges families are experiencing in rural Africa and asking people to pray with him.
You are also invited to join the Ripple Effect team for their virtual prayer meeting on Wednesday 5 March, 9.15-10am. Hear from Winnie Mailu, Head of Thematic Support, Kenya, about the climate crisis in rural Africa. You’ll also be able to join Ripple Effect chaplain, Debbie Pow, who will lead a time of prayer. Green Christian Lent Course: ‘Calling a Wounded Earth Home’

Green Christian is offering two versions of a 5-week Lent Course, “Calling a Wounded Planet Home”, for churches to use in 2025. Inspired by Green Christian’s Deep Waters Course, it asks “What kind of people might we need to be to face the challenges of climate change?”
Here is a space to go deeper together, and a space of contemplation that can resource meaningful action.
Covering topics of Love, Truth, Wisdom, Justice and Hope, this course uses music, prayer and Bible texts to inform reflection and discussion on creation care and the climate crisis, with the potential for positive and grounded outcomes for both community and church. Learn more here.
