The Churches’ Week of Action on Food is a week of prayer, study and action among churches, Christian organisations and people of faith around the world linked to International Day for Rural Women (15 October) and World Food Day (16 October).
The focus will be on food, gender and small-scale food producers, particularly women, as an act of solidarity and in recognition of the key role they play and the need to protect and strengthen their rights.
Despite representing the majority of the agricultural workforce and production, women are estimated to have access to or control only 5 per cent of land globally. Resources for the Week of Action – prayers, bible studies, reflection questions and advocacy ideas – are available from the Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance.
