Update from Our Lady and St John in Carrigaline

A sprinkling of God’s gifts – leaves on a Carrigaline roadside in December

Janet Twomey sent ECI this update:

Our parish has started on the journey of looking at how we could use more green energy solutions such as solar panels in our church building.  We are at the early stages of exploring an energy audit and understanding the possibilities for grants available that might enable us to become more energy efficient. We are currently gathering information and meeting with people who have the skills to support us in our endeavours.

We are very excited by this work because we know “Creation is in desperate need of our love….our sisters and brothers are crying out for help.  The most vulnerable among us are experiencing the worst effects of the climate crisis, despite having little to do with the heat-trapping greenhouse gases that scientists say are causing warmer global temperatures…and taking care of the earth is a human right.” (from Pope Francis’ TED talk on divestment from fossil fuels, October 2020).
