Sustainability events at Airfield ~ Ireland’s only urban farm!

On the last Saturday of every month Airfield, south Dublin, celebrates sustainable living with dedicated talks and workshops. Each month a different activity is platformed – from bee-keeping to poultry farming, soap making and more.
On Saturday 28th August Gavin Harte, a high profile speaker on environmental issues, will speak at 12 noon and 2pm on “Sustainability – What is it? What are we doing about it?” He will explore sustainability, our ecological footprint and why we need to change the way we’re doing things. A high profile spokesperson on environmental and sustainability issues for many years, Harte has worked as national director of An Taisce and was founder and developer of Ireland’s first eco village in Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary.
A Book Swap takes place every month on Sustainable Saturdays: bring a book you have enjoyed and would like to pass on and find a new gem to take home with you
Grow it Yourself meetings take place on Sustainable Saturdays at 3pm.GIY brings people who are interested in growing their own food together to talk, learn from each other and exchange tips, produce and war stories.
The Airfield Bazaar has recently been introduced to Sustainable Saturdays. The market includes vintage clothes, furniture, bric a brac and an array of recycled and reconditioned items. In the unique setting of Airfield’s beautiful farm and gardens you can browse the stalls of unusual clothes and furniture, costume jewellery and that little gem that has evaded you until now!
