Church of Ireland Central Communications Board Commissioned Writing Project 2024-2025

The Church of Ireland’s Central Communications Board is seeking freelance writers who are interested in exploring and sharing a range of stories from the Church’s history and current mission and ministry across the island of Ireland. Themes for this project can include art, culture and architecture, the environment and human interest angles. The Church of Ireland is present in over 1,000 local communities and has 29 cathedrals, and forms part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Travel expenses can be covered, and applications are welcome from freelance writers and journalism students. Article payments, subject to editorial approval, will be £50 for a half-page article, £100 for a full-page article, and £200 for a two-page article.

If you would like to discuss an idea for publication, and the potential placement of an article, please get in touch with the Church of Ireland Press Officer, Peter Cheney, on 028 9082 8880 or by email: [email protected]. The first round for applications is open to Friday, 3rd January 2025, and other rounds will be available in spring and summer leading up to September 2025.
