Geraldine Murphy sent us this update:
About 3 years ago we started a Garden Group, led by Maire Ui Scolai, a horticulturist and a fellow parishioner. Maire leads the seven volunteers every second Tuesday – choosing and planting bee and butterfly friendly flowers and shrubs, weeding, especially trying to eradicate the bindweed (no pesticides) and cutting back hedges and bamboo plants. We have seen many bumble bees and not so many butterflies this summer in the gardens. Our parishioners are delighted with the beauty, colour and wildlife, mainly bees.
