John Andrew sent us this report:
February 2023 to February 2024 was a busy year of events to commemorate the Bicentenary of St Mary’s Church Carrigaline. One of the final events was the planting of an oak tree in the church grounds on February 4th 2024. This was a special tree as it had been grown from an acorn by one of the parishioners and was planted by one of our more junior members of the congregation.
On Trinity Sunday (May 26th 2024) we were delighted to welcome the ECI Climate Justice Candle into both churches of our parish. In St Mary’s we decorated the display with wild plants that had grown in our own garden, ivy, ferns, wild violets and herb robert. The Intercession Prayers that accompanied the candle were used during the service. They were very appropriate for the occasion.
