Kay Burke sent us this report:
We, at the Church of the Assumption Howth, Co. Dublin were delighted to host the Eco-Congregation Ireland Climate Justice Candle for Lent this year. It inspired us to think of how we can Care for our Common Home. Using ideas from Trócaire’s Lenten resources and the Just Lent programme of the Diocese of Dublin, we selected a theme each week to focus our thoughts and prayers. The themes were Water, Homelessness, Food, Mother’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Palm Sunday. We made available various inspirational quotes from Laudato Sí to move us to think about how we can play our part in bringing about change and improvement.
Many thanks to Karen, Fran and Anna from Eco-Congregation Ireland for facilitating us in hosting the Candle. Fr Paul, Fr Gerry, Fr Bernard helped by highlighting the presence of the Candle and its themes each week. Una Kane, Barbara Farrell, Joe Stewart, Joe Clarke and Kay Burke together with other parishioners kept the project going. To all, many thanks and farewell to the candle. May it burn brightly in many other parishes.
