On St Brigid’s Day, an ecumenical evensong featured the Climate Justice Candle. Fr Joe Power and Rev Trevor Sargent officiated with their respective congregations worshipping together. Afterwards, they shared hospitality around the candle.
The Climate Justice Candle featured on Thursday 25th January 2024 at an ecumenical service to celebrate the Conversion of St Paul and how Paul’s vision was better after he met Jesus in a flash of light on the road to Damascus. Parishioners also gave thanks for the new floodlighting of St Paul’s Church of Ireland. They prayed too that the light of Climate Justice Candle might likewise improve their vision of a climate just world.
3rd and 4th class from Carrigduff National School, Bunclody, and their Principal Ms Carolyn Good, teacher Ms Jennifer Ward, School Secretary Ms Lorna Brownrigg and some parents and grandparents came to St Mary’s Church Bunclody on Wednesday morning 24th January during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which this year was prepared by the Christian churches in Burkina Faso. Those present reflected on the effects of climate injustice especially on Africa with the help of Climate Justice Candle and an illuminated globe.
The Climate Justice Candle featured at a St Brigid’s Day 2024 Quiet Day in Ballyvaloo Retreat Centre near Blackwater, on the Wexford coast. The day was hosted by the Ferns Diocesan Ecumenical Society which presented Michael Dillon CEO of Ballyvaloo Retreat Centre with a lovely tapestry made by Naomi Moulton of Bunclody. The Quiet Day was led by Fr Tom D’Alton who led a workshop on centering prayer.
