Moviddy Union of Parishes is a small rural parish in Cork. We began our Eco Congregation journey this past summer with our main focus on the environment of the three churches. Each church yard and the rectory garden had areas where the grass was left unmown resulting in some attractive areas of wildflowers- this is a strategy which we hope to develop further each year using seed collected from the flowers already growing and augmenting with native Irish wildflower seeds.
A confirmation candidate and his mother were involved in the making and positioning of a large bug hotel during the summer. We added homemade bee hotels and nesting boxes during the autumn. All small steps , but steps on our environmental journey.
