St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Blackrock has been busy. Church members have transformed a grass patch which was more mud and weeds than grass, into a shrub and flower border.
Members originally started with the idea of making it more aesthetically pleasing but then decided that we could also make it butterfly, bee and insect friendly. They sought advice from members of the RHSI about what would do well in their area which is shaded by trees as well as the church building and what would attract butterflies, bees and other insects. As well as shrubs and flowers they have also planted bulbs to bloom next Spring. They have created a border with all-year round interest as well as one that will attract pollinators!
