Tools for Solidarity has been working in Belfast for the past 30 years. They currently need your help as they are looking for 500 sewing machines to send to Africa! Thanks to Conor for sending us this info:
We work with local, international and supported volunteers and collect old hand tools and sewing machines, refurbish them and send them to centres in Tanzania and Uganda. These refurbished tools and sewing machines help to improve the lives of the local people and their communities in the areas we serve in Africa. The current focus is on Tanzania and Uganda and these are amongst the poorest countries in the world.
We are running a project to collect 500 old/unused sewing machines in the next six months. We are hoping to harness the goodwill of the religious community in this effort. If you can help us promote this appeal in Belfast churches I am confident that we can succeed.
The benefit of the project to some of the poorest people in the world cannot be overstated.
We are based on the Crumlin Road and should people wish they can drop the machines off or we can collect them. Of course, it is easier for us if you can drop them off to our new workshop at 55a Sunnyside Street, Belfast BT7 3EX.
