Energy use must be cut, says Jonathon Porritt

Renewable technologies won’t deliver unless the world also cuts its energy use over the next 30-40 years.

This was the challenge delivered recently by Jonathon Porritt, former director of Friends of the Earth and co-founder of Forum for the Future. He said there was absolutely no scenario in which renewables could succeed without energy efficiency playing a major role.

He also said that climate change was an issue which didn’t go away, just because politicians found it difficult.
