More than one billion people around the globe took part in Earth Day on April 22 2012 in an attempt to help ‘Mobilise the Earth’.
People of all nationalities and backgrounds voiced their appreciation for the planet and demanded its protection, standing united for a sustainable future and calling upon individuals, organisations, and governments to do their part.

Here in Ireland Green Sod Land Trust invited people to take part in its online photographic exhibition entitled “Every day is Earth Day” by taking a moment with their cameras to reflect on the beauty of nature.
“Biodiversity is what allows us to breathe clean air, drink fresh water and grow our food, and this is what Earth Day celebrates,” said Melissa Griffith, Green Sod Land Trust chairperson.
The Trust has created an online exhibition of all the photos on their website. See http://www.greensodlandtrust.ie/06_gallery/gallery-earth-day.html?–=6.
