Northern Ireland Climate Change Impacts Partnership launches new website

Northern Ireland Climate Change Impacts Partnership (NICCIP) has launched a new website – www.niccip.com.

NICCIP was established in 2007 with the aim of widening the understanding and knowledge of the impacts of climate change within Northern Ireland and the adaptation actions necessary to deal with it.

Adaptation means changing our behaviour to respond to both the projected and current impacts of climate change.

Northern Ireland needs to meet the challenge that our changing climate is having on our everyday life. Recent extreme events have shown how vulnerable we are to extreme weather events.

NICCIP believes we can only meet the challenge of changes to our climate by coming together and commencing climate change adaptation activities and actions together in partnership across Northern Ireland.

NICCIP was established in March 2007 following up a recommendation from the 2007 DOE/Scotland and Northern Ireland Forum for Environmental Research report, Preparing for a Changing Climate in Northern Ireland.

The partnership consists of representatives from central and local government, the business community, the voluntary sector and professional organisations.
