Christian Aid has produced a Cancun briefing which calls for the following:
Kyoto protocol- the continuation of the Kyoto protocol ( as well as an amendment to it to be adopted at Cancun to avoid a gap between periods)
Finance- developed countries (including Ireland) to honour their pledges to provide ‘new and additional’ short term financing between 2010-2012. This finance is crucial to restoring trust between wealthy north and impoverished south.
Leadership form the EU (emissions cuts of at least 40% by 2020)
Support for those calling for warming to be limited to less than 1.5%
A co-ordinated package of COP decisions under the LCA track, which will coexist with the Kyoto protocol
