Friends of the Earth in Northern Ireland are hosting an Island Gathering at the Tí Chulainn Cultural Centre, Mullaghbane, County Armagh on 17th and 18th April.
Highlights will include:
- Opening address from Edwin Poots MLA – the Northern Ireland Environment Minister will address the gathering and stay for questions.
- Meet James Orr – the new Northern Ireland director will deliver a keynote speech.
- After dinner speech by John Gibbons – the Irish Times commentator, and founder of the www.climatechange.ie website, takes an alternative look at climate change denial in the media and general public.
- Learn about the Stop Climate Chaos “Get in the Game” Campaign and developments in the Irish Big Ask – hear about the campaigns for climate bills in Northern Ireland and from the Republic and learn how you can get involved.
- Skills workshops – topics this year include: photography; fundraising; communication; advocacy; and the psychology of climate change denial.
- Review of the Year – reflections on Copenhagen, developments in the campaign for an Irish Climate Act, Green New Deal, and Planning Reform.
Tickets cost €60 for weekend delegates (including accommodation, Saturday evening meal and Sunday breakfast) and €40 for day delegates (without accommodation, but including Saturday evening meal). Both ticket types include lunch and refreshments both days.
