The Dominican sisters of An Tairseach are offering a wide variety of interesting courses and one-day events at their 70-acre farm and ecology centre in coming months.
Topics will include The Epic of Evolution, Spirituality and the New Cosmology, Growing Organic Vegetables and Culinary Herbs, Vegetarian Cookery, Sacred Dance, Walking the Labyrinth and Meditation. There will also be a special event to celebrate the Spring Equinox on Saturday 20th March.
An Tairseach also offers a 10-week sabbatical programme, which it runs twice a year. It is a residential programme entitled ‘Exploring Spirituality in the Context of an Evolving Universe, an Endangered Earth and the Christian Tradition.” Courses this year run from 7th March to 14th May and from 5th September to 12th November.
An Tairseach is an organic/biodynamic farm and ecology centre established by Dominican sisters in 1998. An Tairseach is the Irish word for threshold and it suggests a new beginning, an alternative and more sustainable way of working with the land as well as a renewed relationship with the whole community of life, human and non-human.
Three main aspects of An Tairseach are:
- A Centre for Ecology and Spirituality
- An Organic Farm and farm shop
- A Conservation Area suitable for field studies
