A 2008 British Council Challenge Europe Advocate from Belfast has been selected as an International Climate Change Champion. Climate Champions is a youth oriented programme that aims to inspire young people and work with them towards spreading the word on climate change and its effects.
Rosie Barnett’s project will aim to prepare for a formal launch of Transition Belfast. Transition Towns is a grassroots movement of communities working together to
tackle the twin challenge of climate change and peak oil, and it is intended Transition Belfast will join the now global network of formally accredited Transition Towns.
