The 29th of August marked the start of the 100 day countdown to the beginning of the crucial UN global climate talks in Copenhagen in December.
With climate change already devastating the lives of millions of vulnerable people in developing countries, these talks must avert a climate catastrophe by delivering a fair and safe global deal. This global deal must be safe by reducing greenhouse gas emissions enough to avoid climate chaos and fair by ensuring that we support poor countries to adapt to climate change and pursue low carbon futures.
In September world leaders, including Taoiseach Brian Cowen, will attend a UN high level event in New York to set the scene for the talks in Copenhagen.
