A number of new FAS courses are on offer to help construction workers convert their skills to acquire jobs in the green energy sector.
Sustainable Energy Costs: solar thermal, heat-pump and biomass boiler installation courses are offered at the Cork and Ballyfermot training centres while the Gweedore and Galway centres also offer solar thermal courses.
A course in Building Energy Rating (BER) is available at the Cabra centre. New energy regulations for all homes require qualified workers to produce the required BER reports.
A micro-electricity generation wind turbine course and a photovoltaic course have been developed in co-operation with Sustainable Energy Ireland.
