Slow is Beautiful is the theme of a weekend conference which will take place at Drumalis Retreat Centre, Larne, Co Antrim from 14-16 November.
Recent years have seen the development of the concept of ‘slow’ – ‘slow’ food, ‘slow’ cities, ‘slow’ design. This implies reclaiming our time – for recreation, family, social encounters, enjoying what we have, improving where and how we live.
We live in a hurried, frantic world which causes us all to live at a pace never dreamt of before in human history. The Slow is Beautiful conference will explore the Slow Movement and the benefits it could bring to all our lives and to the fragile resources of our beautiful planet.
Alma Claving, Jules Pretty, Graeme Kidd, Simon O’Rafferty and John Woods will help to reinterpret ‘slow’ in relation to people and their communities.

“In the universe and in nature everything comes in its own good time. Years follow the earth around the sun, season following season with the tilt of the axis. Months and tides follow the moon, days and nights follow the spin of the earth. Each has its own time providing activity and rest, harvest and replenishment, change and consistency, all in proper time.” ~ Ian Mason
