Making the transition to resilience

Convergence 14: Making the Transition to Resilience is the title of a sustainable living festival taking place simultaneously in Dublin, Thurles and Cloughjordan from the 22nd to the 28th of April. There will be talks, conferences, workshops and world cafe discussions on how to accelerate community responses to the economic downturn, resource depletion and climate change.

During the festival an evening of discussion on A Green New Deal: What It Could Mean for Ireland will take place at Cultivate, Temple Bar, Dublin on Friday 24th April at 7.30pm. Speakers will include Colin Hines who first developed the idea in the report “A Green New Deal” published in UK in July 2008. Also on the panel will be John Barry, Queens University, Peadar Kirby, University of Limerick and Paul Allen, Outreach Director at the Centre for Alternative Technology, Wales and author of the ‘Zero Carbon Britain’ report.
